In 2021, the Government of Indonesia launched Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA), a scholarship program aimed for undergraduate students to experience studying at leading universities abroad. This program is managed by the Directorate General of Higher Education (Ditjen Dikti), the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemdikbud).
Mefa Alya, one of the students in Accounting Department, Andalas University, got the opportunity to spend one semester in University of Pécs, Hungary. For a full study exchange experience, the university offered a wide range of courses from the Faculty of Business and Economics and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. With this, the students were able to expand their knowledge by taking the courses that are not related to their study back in Indonesia.
Besides studying, Mefa, along with other IISMA awardees, also spread Indonesian culture by holding an event called “Indonesian Day”, where they showcased traditional Indonesian dances, displayed some Indonesian cuisine for foreigners to try, and gave a brief presentation about Indonesia. The Hungarians and other international students really enjoyed the event.
As of now, Mefa completed the IISMA program and is ready to continue her study at Andalas University.
